The Capital Area AIDS Legal Project
The Capital Area AIDS Legal Project was formed in 1987 to network private attorneys willing to provide pro bono legal services to Central Texas individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Today, CAALP utilizes a network of over 130 volunteer attorneys to assist clients with estate planning, insurance, discrimination, public entitlements, family law, domestic relations, debtor-credit, landlord-tenant, probate and other civil issues.

Since 1990, CAALP has assisted approximately 2,500 HIV-infected individuals with these services and continues to serve approximately 400 clients a year. Many of those who utilize CAALP would not otherwise be able to access much-needed legal services.

Volunteers are still needed for most aspects of the event from marketing and promotions to setting up the venue. It's a great opportunity for the legal profession to benefit their community and back a community legal program.
